Automotive manufacturer Ford Motor Co. (F: News ) announced Wednesday that its premium small car, the all-new Ford Focus, would feature a branded and designed audio system from Sony Corp. (SNE: News ).
Focus will be the first car in its class to offer HD Radio digital broadcasts and iTunes Tagging capability through the segment-exclusive 355-watt audio system.
The audio system features a signature piano-black interface design with the iconic Sony center controller, mimicking the appearance of popular home audio equipment from Sony. The product would be available for the first time on Focus in North America, arriving early next year.
Ford pointed out that the relation with Sony is part of a broader effort to incorporate products and services from complementing brands consumers already know and trust. Ford also has partnerships with Microsoft, SIRIUS and THX.
Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president of Global Product Development, stated, “Sony is an important partner in our drive to deliver cars that consumers view as a second home on wheels.”
