2011 FORD FUSION HYBRID
Somebody with a lead foot had the Fusion before I did because the fuel consumption readout was way worse than promised for the hybrid sedan.
However, with some careful driving over the week I shaved it down to spitting distance of the boasted 5.4 L/100 km highway rating!
Drive these machines properly and you can save much at the pump.
It is capable of operating up to 75 km/h on battery alone, but save that feat for the highway.
The Fusion is also a practical five-seat family car with oodles of room in the trunk and attractive to boot.
My tester had every bell and whistle including navigation for $40 grand and taxes.
But strip away some of the extras and the base model starts at $34,199.
